Brussels Sprouts – Sweet, not stinky!

A week or so ago we ‘popped’ into Trader Joes whilst out to pick up some nibbles and I was delighted to see they were selling WHOLE STALKS of Brussels Sprouts – for cheap!!  For a little over $3, each stalk held at least 4 pounds of Brussels Sprouts.  They are funny to look at.  Like nobbles on a thick spine.  I have a little fetish for greens, especially in the winter....

A Tribute to Mrs Blake

Last March I read a Bon Appétit article about Flapjacks.  I had somehow forgotten about these delicious little snack-cakes that I have loved from my youth on and decided to make some. Spaghetti Bolognaise

This one’s for Diana!!  Thanks for the comment about wanting my Bolognaise recipe.  I haven’t made it for a while, but have been craving it recently too. It’s so funny how there is some kind of what Brad and I call ‘group think’ going on out there.  For example, I made this recipe this week and wanted to post it straight away (I even made Brad write down the...

Have a Ham Hock?/Snow Day Soup

Last week at work, my boss gave me a huge spiral cut ham from William’s Sonoma – it weighed a ton!!!  After getting it home and looking at it, I realised there was no way Brad and I could ever get through it alone.  I decided to carve all the meat from the bone and have a ‘ham party’ on Saturday night – which turned out great and will maybe be the subject of...
